New faces at Silverback

We were very excited to welcome our new certificate group, as well as our Diploma participants, to the recent weekend workshop.  The certificate workshop was ‘Emergency, Risk and Crisis management’ and it focused on definitions, approaches and relevant models, exploring them practically through different active learning methods.

New faces at SilverbackThe workshop also welcomed Ian Rivers as a Silverback Associate.  Ian brings an impressive range of experience and expertise with him, ranging from 20 plus years with UKSF to his current portfolio of work securing individuals and assets, mostly abroad.  Under the title of ‘Abduction and escape in Syria’ Ian presented a fascinating, yet chilling account of his capture by a dissident group, whilst protecting a US TV news team.

The Certificate and Diploma group came together to work on an after-dinner exercise ‘Deployment to Hong Kong’ which applied lessons drawn from Ian’s experiences to the possible deployment of a news team to Hong Kong.

There was definitely a buzz about the weekend.  Experiences (and drinks!) were shared and new learning was clearly developing.
