Cyber and Information Security
Cyber security is a rapidly evolving field whose relevance to the security industry is extensive. In a single module it is not possible to develop a comprehensive knowledge of this complex yet fundamental area, however the module can introduce participants to those aspects of cyber security which impinge upon their own professional roles.
The module focuses on the fundamentals and associated practices of information security, and also considers some of the pitfalls and challenges of issues such as cyber-crime, internet fraud and the use of forensic technologies and electronic evidence.
Participants are introduced to digital forensics, information security and security auditing and certification before focusing on network security, reconnaissance and surveillance by means of a range of case studies.

What you will be able to do
On successful completion of this module you will be able to:
- Account for the significance of cyber security in terms of their working roles
- Identify the requirements of specific organisations and the types of information that might potentially be compromised
- Demonstrate understanding of the key concepts within cyber security
- Outline basic security measures, processes and associated procedures that may be deployed in mitigation of threats.
Assessment Arrangements
The Assessment arrangements comprise two parts; the first involving an analysis to identify the significance of potential cyber security threats; the second to describe security measures to mitigate these threats.
